The Conflict of Interest Code for Members of the House of Commons (Members’ Code) was originally adopted by the House of Commons on April 29, 2004. Under Standing Order 108(3)(a)(viii), the Standing Committee on Procedure and House Affairs is given the mandate to review and report on all matters relating to the Members’ Code. The Members’ Code includes rules on conflict of interest for Members, processes for the confidential disclosure of personal information to the Commissioner, procedures for making Members’ summary information public, an advisory role for the Commissioner and a process for the conduct of inquiries for alleged contraventions of the rules by Members. The Code was amended on June 11, 2007, June 5, 2008 and again on June 4, 2009.
